You Pressed Start Story!

Hello! My name is Richard(Richy) Santos. I started my Game Design/Animation Journey back in 2021. I attended DePaul University starting in 2020 studying Cybersecurity as my major. After a year of studying, I decided I wanted to choose something different to study and ended up studying Game Design until 2025. While studying Game Design, I also declared my minor in the Fall Quarter of 2021-2022 of Animation as I found an interest in 3D animation. I now am a graduate of DePaul University as of March 2025 with a Bachelors of Science in Game Design with a Minor in Animation. While studying, I also worked multiple campus leadership positions that have made built me to be the person I am today. Learn more information below!

My Story

I grew up in Chicago Illinois for 23 years and counting. I grew up most of my childhood in a low-income neighborhood called Rogers Park for about 10 years until my family and I decided to move. When I was a child, my father used to bring me to GameStop once in a while to get my a $5 used game to play for my PlayStation 2. I grew up playing Video Games as a child because my father had introduced me to them and even played with me as I grew up. I was a very anti-social child because I had many health issues growing up as a child. I had many food allergies and I also had asthma as a child. I wasn't much of an active child and I spent most of childhood playing video games because I enjoyed them, but also since it was the only activity I could do that wouldn't cause me to have any sort of health hiccups. I've always had this idea as a child to one day make a game, but I never thought I would fully commit myself to do so until I reached my undergrad at DePaul University. For the five years that I was at DePaul University for Game Design, every single game I've made was a learning experience. Every animation project I have worked on were either made to test my skills, but also to implement into a game project as well. I had lots of fun creating games and I had a better understanding of how the process of game development really is. My five years at DePaul made me realize how much work and grit it takes just to make animations and games. However, that never made me want to give up, but rather grow from them and get better. I enjoyed making games and animations, but I still hold that to this very day. It's a part of who I am and I will enjoy making games and playing them.
